At the Latina SmallBiz Expo, 10 Latina entrepreneurs will be under the spotlight representing the states of New Jersey, New York and Texas, and one representing an organization based in Washington DC. The are stepping up on November 9 at the NJIT Campus Center Atrium in Newark NJ to promote their products and services to the most relevant media in the region, and will compete for an opportunity to win this year’s LatinasinBusiness.us Best Business Award.

Two additional participants have been added to the competition, MEejie Chaparro Traverso, founder & CEO MEej™LLC (New Jersey) and Soley Berrios, Board Secretary of ATWGirl, Inc. (Washington DC).

The previously registered participants at the Latina SmallBiz Expo Pitch Competition are Janny Perez, founder and CEO of MiLegaSi (New York); Elizabeth “Liz” Santiago, founder and CEO, CeleBritAy (New York); Mary Dressendorfer, Co-founder, Princess Plie and Friends (New Jersey); Tania Molina, founder and CEO, Villakuyaya (New Jersey); Karla Jimenez, founder,  Caidos del Cielo Bakery; Isabel Ayala, founder, IsaBeauty Aromatherapy (New Jersey); Ivette Mayo, founder and CEO, Yo Soy Expressions (Texas); and Brenda Nava, founder, Brendallan’s Tax and Accounting Services (New Jersey).

The Pitch your Business to the Media Competition has become a signature event that attracts strong and established Latina small businesses beyond our home state, reaching out to our followers around the country,” Baumann said. “In addition to the support of NJIT as Hosting Sponsor, and Univision as Media Sponsor, we are grateful to all media that have given us space to promote the event,” she added.

In addition, Baumann continued to plead the general public to support the event as proceeds from tickets purchased under the denomination LSBEPuertoRico General Admission will be fully donated to Puerto Rico and Mexico Disaster Relief through the Latino Networks Coalition and the Hispanic Federation. “By donating our General Admission tickets, we try to bring relief to our brothers and sisters of Puerto Rico and Mexico who are suffering as result of natural disasters. With your $10 contribution, you will be supporting not only your favorite Latina entrepreneur but also families and relatives of Latinos in the United States who are still suffering the consequences of climate change disasters,” Baumann said.

The event will take place at the NJIT Campus Center Atrium, 150 Bleeker St, Newark, NJ 07102, on November 9 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm. Free parking will be available for all attendees at 154 Summit Street. Volunteers from the ERG “Juntos” at First Data Corporation have offered their time and presence to help move the public swiftly from the NJIT parking deck to the event.
