Latinas in Business joins Altísimo Live fundraiser on Cinco de Mayo

Altísimo Live! music and pop culture livestream festival set for Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) aims to raise $3 million – $5 at a time – for the Farmworkers’ Pandemic Relief Fund created by Justice for Migrant Women and Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP) Maná, Los Tigres del Norte, Sofia Vergara, Juanes, and Dolores Huerta have joined the history-making, star-studded benefit.

All funds raised by the event are tax-deductible and will be managed by a 501(c)(3) in support of the Farmworkers’ Pandemic Relief Fund effort.

Latinas in Business Inc. is joining as “Influencer” this historic broadcast created by RetroPop Media and iHeartLatino, iHeartMedia’s Hispanic platform, and co-produced with WFHN-TV, CIEN+, Justice for Migrant Women, Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP), INGEÑUITY, The Latinx House, Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) and PEOPLE en Español. 

“We are proud to join our efforts to support this timely event that will bring much needed emergency funds to the farmers’s organizations in several states,” said Susana G Baumann, President and CEO, Latinas in Business Inc. “We have been an advocate for farmers workers rights, especially women, and we want to be present in such a necessary undertaken.”

The festival is being co-hosted by actor, producer, director, and activist Eva Longoria and iHeartLatino Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Enrique Santos. Other celebrity co-hosts throughout the livestream benefit festival will include: J Balvin, Kate Del Castillo, Rosario Dawson, and Alejandro Sanz.

Fashion designers Mario De la Torre, Carlos Marrero, and Raul Peñaranda, will also join the event to share how they are using their talent and unique designs in support of the pandemic relief effort. Some of their special edition farmworker-inspired designs will be available for purchase in support of the fund.

Even though the online benefit is free, the festival features a call to action for viewers to give cinco this cinco (#CincoOnCinco), with a $5 or more donation online or via text by texting CINCO to 91999.

Supporters, corporations, and philanthropists are urged to pledge whatever amount they can ahead of or during the festival at the fund’s link, which is farmworkers.hipgive.org to help meet the fund’s goal.

In a show of solidarity, even the high-profile global generosity movement, Giving Tuesday, announced that Altísimo Live! is one of the special causes they have designated for donors on Cinco de Mayo this year.

Altísimo Live! features an inspired, jam-packed day of at-home performances, comedy skits, celebrity activations, artistic exhibits, and other surprises that will keep audiences glued.

Festival highlights include a kick-off tailgate celebration and appreciation parade that will travel to the farmworkers to show them love and appreciation. In Miami, renowned muralists Luis Valle and Ivan Roque from Wynwood will collaborate with developer Moishe Mana and City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez to paint a monumental wall that will pay tribute to the farmworkers. In other parts of the country, fashion shows, Cinco de Mayo recipes, mixologists and Latino social media influencers will collaborate to keep the tailgate fun flowing leading up to the prime time celebrities and music acts. Among those scheduled to perform are Maná; Juanes; Gloria Estefan; Gloria Trevi; Ivy Queen; Jesse & Joy; La Santa Cecilia; Elvis Crespo; Los Lobos; Ozomatli, Farruko;, Sech, Justin Quiles; and La Energia Norteña.

The festival will also highlight stories from farmworker leaders, as well as messages of gratitude and appreciation from notable individuals, with an overall goal of driving combined action to support our farmworker community.

When/How to View Altísimo Live!

Altísimo Live! officially kicks off on @AltisimoLive’s Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Periscope, and Twitch accounts simultaneously on Tuesday, May 5th at 10:00 a.m. PT/ 1:00 p.m. ET with an interactive livestream tailgating experience that will include entertainers, comedians, chefs, social media influencers, and other surprise personalities. iHeartLatino and PEOPLE en Español will also carry parts or all of the broadcast at various times on one or more of their respective livestream and/or broadcast platforms.

At 5:00 p.m. PT/ 8:00 p.m. ET, the groundbreaking interactive festival transforms into a series of continuous musical performances and interactive Q&A’s and experiences with the artists.

Audiences at home will also have several options throughout the day to get involved live on the show with opportunities to not only win prizes but also be featured on the show in a variety of creative ways.

Beneficiary, Media and Partner Organizations

Justice for Migrant Women and Hispanics in Philanthropy created the Farmworkers’ Pandemic Relief Fund in order to meet some of the community’s basic needs. Money raised through this fundraising effort will be disbursed to farmworker-serving organizations around the U.S. and Puerto Rico to help provide food, formula, diapers, emergency financial assistance for medical needs and other support during this crisis.

Organizations such as the Coalition of Florida Farmworker Organizations (FL), East Coast Migrant Head Start Project (Multi-state), Farmworker Association of Florida (FL), The United Farm Workers Foundation (CA, WA), Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noreste (PCUN) (OR), Redlands Christian Migrant Association (RCMA) (FL), Pathstone (Multi-state), NC Fields (NC), La Cooperativa Campesina de California (CA), Proteus, Inc. (Multi-state), Student Action with Farmworkers (NC), Telamon Corporation (Multi-state), UMOS (WI, MN) and La Union del Pueblo Entero (TX) have been named among the recipients from this fund who are providing the farmworker community members with much-needed aid.

Producing wealth through creative talent is an important part of who we are as entrepreneurs but wise branding, productive investing, and strong corporate responsibility are also crucial components in being a successful entrepreneur.

Jennifer Lopez  (Jlo’s net worth: $300 million)

Jennifer Lopez launched and promoted her scent Glowing in 2012.  She began designing in 2001, starting with the brand Sweetface Fashion but she has also launched a line of clothing and accessories for Kohl’s department stores that includes dresses, sportswear, handbags and jewelry. According to Forbes, the “actress, singer, dancer, fashion designer, and television producer has a net worth of $300 million. Her career has spanned more than two decades and today she is one of Hollywood’s biggest A-list celebrities.

Lopez’s style and empire have influenced the world. Her  fragrance line has become the most successful line in the world, with record-breaking sales exceeding $2 billion. Lopez has contributed to a number of charitable organizations including Amnesty International, and March of Dimes, among others.

Longoria, our Latina “desperate housewife,” enrolled the support of the brand L’Oreal to design her line of scent, a bold move since the actress is allergic to most fragrances. An American television and film actress who has a net worth of $35 million dollars, according to Forbes, she was born in 1975 in Corpus Christi, Texas.  She was known for her role as Isabella in The Young and the Restless (CBS) and as Gabrielle Solis on  Desperate Housewives (ABC).

Her commitment to Latino causes and giving back to the community earned her the Philanthropist of the Year award by The Hollywood Reporter. She has fundraised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and founded Eva’s Heroes, a charity which helps developmentally disabled children in 2006. She is also the national spokesperson for PADRES Contra El Cancer. She is heavily involved in the Friends of the American Latino Museum and the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

 

Sofia Vergara  (Vergara’s net worth is $70 million)

Sofia Vergara, the Colombian born actress, model and spokeswoman has an estimated net worth of $70 million, according to Forbes. Born in 1972 in Barranquilla, Colombia, she is probably most famous for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the show Modern Family (ABC).

LatinWe (Latin World Entertainment Holdings Inc.) is a multiservice talent management, marketing, production, endorsement and licensing firm where Hollywood producers go to search for Latino talents. The company, founded by Sofía Vergara and former music promoter Luis Balaguer, has estimated  revenues close to $30 million, mostly based on Vergara’s marketing as an actress and celebrity.

However, she also has deigned a line of clothes, under the slogan “Work what you got” aimed at women who want to feel safe and sexy. The line is sold at Kmart stores, to be accessible to her fans at very reasonable prices.

“The 48-year-old original Mexicana beauty has been making a name lately in the business and philanthropy world with her skin-care line Nuance with mass drugstore CVS, which pulls from her own ancestry to come up with beauty ingredients like Tepezcohuite, a tree famed for its restorative properties. She also has partnered with Beyoncé Knowles in launching Chime for Change, which aims to empower women and girls globally. As a Hollywood pioneer and mom of 6-year-old Valentina, Salma continues to inspire year after year,” says Cosmopolitan for Latinas.

And Refinery29 mentions that “Salma’s not your typical Hollywood actress. In 2000, she founded film production company Ventanarosa, through which she produced and starred in Frida, which brought in two Oscars. She went on to executive produce Ugly Betty, the American version of Colombian telenovela Yo soy Betty, la fea, sign a development deal with ABC, and even create her own line of cosmetics and skincare products, Nuance, inspired by her grandmother’s homemade concoctions.

“Besides being our favorite guest character on 30 Rock, Hayek has worked tirelessly with UNICEF to stop the spread of tetanus to children, and she’s made contributions to prevent violence against women and discrimination, netting a stack of awards for her assistance.
