Latina journalist Jackeline Cacho, Emmy Nominee for her TV production “Triunfo Latino” received the Latina Entrepreneur of the Month Award at the 2019 Entrepreneur Empowerment Lunch that took place at the Hudson County Culinary Conference Center in Jersey City, NJ. Hudson County Community College was co-hosting the event.
“It is with great pleasure that we granted our dear supporter and Latina journalist Jackeline Cacho the Latina Entrepreneur of the Month Award. She traveled from Los Angeles to be the Mistress of Ceremony at our conference on June 13 in Jersey City, and to received this special award,” said the organizer of the event Susana G Baumann, President and CEO, Latinas in Business Inc. “Her participation and introduction of all main speakers and especially, her moderation of the Fireside Chat with actor, TV writer and producer, and women’s advocate Ivana de Maria, were impeccable,” she added.
Meanwhile Jackeline Cacho, the award-winning journalist and producer, and two times Emmy nominee for her national television program “Jackeline Cacho Presents Triunfo Latino” in the US expressed gratitude to the organization that sets her apart.
“I was honored to receive this award from an organization that advocates for the economic empowerment of Latinas and women of color because their message resonates with our own mission, which is to bring awareness to the rights of women and girls in the US and Latin America,” Jackeline Cacho said.

An initiative against domestic violence in Latin America and other regions
Latina journalist Jackeline Cacho is with great success the producer of the fastest growing independent Spanish TV show in the country. “Jackeline Cacho Presenta Triunfo Latino” airs every Sunday on Vme TV Network celebrating this year her seventh season on air. Successful creator of the movement Edutainment in Spanish programming, Cacho is also a great women’s advocate and humanitarian journalist who supports the Spotlight Initiative, which was originated by the United Nations and the European Union.
Through the Spotlight Initiative – Latin America, the European Union and the United Nations Organization will finance programs to eradicate violence against women and girls, beginning in Mexico.
As part of the activities of the official launch of the Spotlight Initiative – Latin America, which was born due to the alarming number of cases of gender violence in the region, Latina journalist Jackeline Cacho visited Mexico City in November 2018 to initiate dissemination activities.
In Mexico, the first stop on the promotion tour, Spotlight Champion ambassador Jackeline Cacho held meetings and interviews with national and local media. Jackeline Cacho was in charge of putting voice and face to thousands of women who are suffering some type of violence.
With the financial contribution of 55 million euros for Latin America from the European Union in conjunction with the United Nations (UN), new and innovative programs will be encouraged in Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, to help women and girls to live free of violence and eradicate femicide in these countries. In 2016 alone: 254 women and girls were murdered in Argentina, 349 in El Salvador, 211 in Guatemala, 466 in Honduras and 2,813 in Mexico.

The Spotlight Initiative will work closely with civil society, United Nations agencies and the governments of the five beneficiary countries to provide comprehensive, high-impact interventions that can save the lives of women and girls.
“This initiative reaffirms our commitment to the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls by the year 2030,” said the Deputy Secretary General of the UN, Amina Mohammed, who recalled that the five selected countries showed the political courage to face and pretend to end feminicide, a crime that costs 12 women a day in Latin America.
