On March 14th, 100 of the Most Powerful Latinas in corporate America will attend an “by invitation only” summit, hosted by Fortune Magazine and ALPFA. The event will take place at Columbia University in New York City.
This year Fortune Magazine has partnered with ALPFA (Association of Latino Professional for America) to produce the 50 Most Powerful Latinas in corporate America. Fortune Magazine’s 50 Most Powerful Women started as a list 19 years ago, and it has evolved into an extraordinary leadership community of the most preeminent American women in business.
In order to make the list, four criteria were considered: the size and importance of the woman’s business in the global economy, the health and direction of the business, the arc of the woman’s career –résumé and runway ahead– and social and cultural influence.
“This summit will add much needed social capital to our Latina leaders and help them get positioned for C-level roles and Fortune 500 board service. At the exclusive event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and listen to leaders such as Mary Dillon, who was named as #3 on the 2016 Businessperson of the Year list by Fortune magazine. Mary Dillon, ULTA Beauty CEO, is only one of the amazing women who are confirmed to attend the summit,” said Yvonne Garcia, ALPFA National Chairwoman.
Other prominent announced speakers are Geisha Williams, CEO PG&E Corporation (Fortune 200); Monica Lozano, Former Chairman and CEO, US Hispanic Media Inc. and Corporate Board Member at Target, Bank of America; Adriana Aristizabal, Best Selling Author, Journalist and a Former War Reporter from Colombia; and Dr Michelle Hernandez, Co-President/Founder, Top Tier Admissions, among other relevant presenters.
On that day, Fortune will publicly announce the Most Powerful Latina (MPL) list during the MPL Summit at Columbia University in New York City.
The 100 preeminent guests will convene for wide-ranging and inspiring discussions that will challenge conventional wisdom, and set the pathway for a brighter future for women, and specifically for Latinas.
This ground-breaking event will be a unique opportunity to network with high-level women and nationally recognized speakers through keynote addresses, one-on-one interviews, and interactive small group discussions where guests can also learn from each other’s stories.
Following the Most Powerful Latinas Summit, ALPFA will host a formal Gala at the Low Memorial Library of Columbia University, featuring inspiring speakers and lively entertainment.
