Once again, it’s this time of year to connect with our readers, friends, fans and followers to talk about the great progress we have achieved in the last 12 months. Thanks to all your support and encouragement, we have worked hard at improving our LatinasinBusiness.us platform and we will continue to do the same in 2016.
First and foremost, our recognition goes to Our LIBizus, the core and reason of our effort, and the ones we celebrate every day. From small restaurateurs to large organizations’ Presidents, and from incredible innovators to one of the 25 Most Powerful Latinas in the country, we have been honored with their presence and support. They are “our tribe,” the fastest growing economic demographic in the nation, the women who day in and day out are building their businesses, their careers, their families and their communities.
As you probably remember, 2015 was a year of recognition for LatinasinBusiness.us right from the start! After we launched in September of 2014 for Hispanic Heritage Month, these are the highlights of this year:
In February, I was honored to be selected as one of 15 Latinas to follow on Twitter in 2015 by social media influencer Lorraine C. Ladish among other Latina bloggers who made me humble for their work and their reach. Thanks, our Madrina Editorial Team Member Lorraine and one of our most loyal supporters!
In March, we received the Best Business or Finance Blog TECLA Award from prestigious Hispanicize event in Miami, FL. It was our first time participating in such event and competing with other blogs. The excitement was thrilling and addictive!
Also in March, together with the International Women’s Day we celebrated a new height in our following: the 5000 mark!
As our audience was growing, we felt compelled to improve quality in form and content. Just a blog wouldn’t do! In July we switched to our new dynamic platform template and we started to invite new contributors to LatinasinBusiness.us. Read more about LatinasinBusiness.us Coaches and Contributors:
Also in July, we were again honored with the National Association of Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology (LISTA) New Jersey/New York Latina Excellence Award. This award is granted to Latina Tech Leaders, and it was an unbelievable opportunity to meet other Latina leaders in the region.
In September, during Hispanic Heritage Month and for our first year anniversary, we launched also the first 2015 LatinasinBusiness.us Best Business Award. We asked Latina business owners to present an elevator pitch to our readers on Facebook, and then we had our readers voting for them.
And the winners were…. Congratulations to all!
October started as an exploding month in every sense, and the starting point of many initiatives we will developed in the year to follow. Watch out, Latinas in business!
We participated at the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey Annual Convention and Business Expo. Our home chamber, the SHCCNJ is one of our strongest media partners. We look forward to continue collaborating with them in 2016. We thank Carlos A. Medina, President of the SHCCNJ and Vice President Luis O. De la Hoz, for their continuous support.
We invited one of our coaches and contributor Don Daniel Ortiz to participate at the SHCCNJ Annual Convention. He came all the way from beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico for a speaking tour in the Northeast and conducted a book signing session, meeting other Latino professionals in the Northeast. We also spoke about his new initiative The Latino Success Academy, and you will hear a lot of about it next year!
We received the invitation to participate at the International Association of Hispanic Meeting Professionals in Atlantic City. The event opened new possibilities and opportunities for Latinas in the travel and event planning industry, which motivated us to expand our sections and launch Travel and Work.
Also in October, we met with one of Our LIBizus Monica Taher, a serial entrepreneur, a Partner at Getty Images Latin America (GILA) and the CEO & Founder of ClipYap, a soon-to-be launched app. She also encouraged us to open a Tech and Talk Section. Yay! What a great pleasure to meet the people we work with!
In the last month, we have been working hard in the backend of our platform to improve reach and traffic, while setting up new media strategic partnerships to work with in the New Year.
Thanks to all of our media partners who supported us all year:
Most importantly, I encourage you to visit our section Our LIBizus. Without them, our platform wouldn’t make any sense. We promote our LIBizus businesses through our platform and our social media channels. If you want to take advantage of the opportunity to have your business featured on LatinasInBusiness.us, please contact Susana@latinasinbusiness.us and let us start working for you!
Thanks, Latinas, and get ready for an exhilarating 2016!
